What are the benefits of a SafeTack© Reverse trailer?
- SafeTack© Reverse trailers reduce stress and fatigue for your horses by allowing them to travel in a rear-facing position, which is more natural and comfortable for them. Learn more: U.S. Patent Awarded Design - SafeTack© Reverse Slant Load Horse Trailer
Why should I choose Rumber flooring?
- Rumber flooring reduces heat transfer, is resistant to horse urine, and provides a quieter, more comfortable ride for your horses. It’s easier to clean and more durable than aluminum or wood flooring. Learn more: Why Add Rumber Flooring to Your Custom Horse Trailer
What are the disadvantages of aluminum trailers?
- Aluminum trailers, while lightweight, can be brittle, have a high heat transfer rate, and can corrode when exposed to horse urine. Learn why we recommend Z-Frame for the frame structure and Rumber flooring instead of aluminum flooring. Learn more: Why We Recommend Z-Frame Over Aluminum
What is Galvalite and why is it better than aluminum?
- Galvalite is a durable material used in the beds of pick-up trucks. It is strong like steel, lightweight like aluminum, and doesn’t rust. Imagine if a horse rears up inside your trailer, with a thin aluminum sheet a hoof could puncture the metal.
What are the benefits of rear-facing trailers?
- Studies show that rear-facing trailers reduce stress and fatigue for horses. Our SafeTack© Reverse trailers offer this unique, patented design. Learn more: Why the Reverse Load Trailer is the Best Horse Trailer Design
What is the SafeKick© Wall system?
- The SafeKick© Wall system uses a durable blend of 95% plastic and 5% rubber interior Polylite, which flexes to absorb the impact of your horse's kicks, reducing the risk of injury. It’s a better alternative to the thin rubber wall liners used in many trailers. Learn more: How to Choose a Horse Trailer With Strong Walls
FAQs on Double D Trailers Materials & Construction
What should I consider when choosing trailer flooring?
- Consider the material’s resistance to heat transfer, noise, and vibration. Rumber and treated wood are better options than aluminum. Learn more: Horse Trailer Flooring: Rumber vs. Alumnimum and Treated Lumber
Why is Rumber flooring recommended over aluminum?
- Aluminum is a great conductor of heat, which can make the trailer floor uncomfortable for horses. It also corrodes when exposed to horse urine. Rumber is a recycled tire product that is virtually indestructible. It transfers less heat, noise, and vibration than aluminum and you do not have to worry about horse urine oxidation (white rust). It’s easy to clean and very durable. Learn more: The Pros and Cons of Rumber Flooring
Why do you use chemical bonding instead of riveting?
- Riveting can cause extra noise and doesn't hold as well as modern chemical bonding systems. Chemical bonding is quieter and provides a stronger hold. Watch this video below to see our bonding system in action.
What are Z-Frame dividers?
- Z-Frame is a zinc-impregnated metal that is much stronger than aluminum, making it a safer option for dividers in horse trailers. It’s designed to withstand stress without bending or tearing. Read more: Functional, Safe, Light Weight Interior Dividers
How does insulation affect trailer temperature?
- Proper insulation in your trailer can prevent it from getting too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Aluminum trailers without proper insulation can reach dangerously high temperatures inside. Learn more about how insulation matters when it comes to horse safety.
What is the SafeBump© Roofing System?
- The SafeBump© Roofing System is a single-piece fiber composite structure that prevents leaks and insulates against heat. It’s designed to protect your horse from injury in case of rearing. Learn more: What is the Safest Horse Trailer Roof Material?
